The space

Each El Toro room has its own personality – bold statement wallpaper, vintage furniture and warm lighting – while keeping all the practical comforts of a hotel. This room features a generous king-size bed dressed in crisp hotel-quality linen, a desk area, wardrobe space and a flat-screen TV. Your private en-suite bathroom comes with a bath and shower, a heated towel rail, fluffy towels and quality toiletries. A coffee pod machine, kettle, tea and bottled water are ready for you when you arrive. El Toro (formerly Jolyon's Boutique Hotel) is now run as a self check-in boutique stay by CozyStay Management. There is no 24-hour reception or daily housekeeping – instead you get easy contactless arrival, a private room and a local team available by message from 9am to 9pm.

Guest access

Guests have private use of their room and en-suite bathroom, plus access to the shared entrance hall and staircase. Arrival is by self check-in – we'll send clear step-by-step instructions and access codes before your stay.

Other things to note

• The room is on an upper floor reached by stairs; there is no lift.

• There's no kitchen in the room, but Mermaid Quay's cafés and restaurants are a few minutes away.

• Cardiff Bay is lively on event and match days – rooms have double-glazed windows.
